Being Green isn’t just for the world’s largest corporations or individuals. Even N.B.A. professional basketball teams can do their part to Be Green.

In Oakland, CA, the Golden State Warriors have unveiled their latest green endeavor. The NBA team has installed a rooftop solar array at their California practice facility that is expected to save the organization over $2 million in the next 25 years.

The project was done in conjunction with The Solar Company, the rooftop solar array covers over 9,000 square feet of rooftop, and the array will produce about 760kWH per day.

The solar project is the first of its kind for the NBA, however, it is not the first Green project in the NBA. Many of the other teams have implemented rainwater capture systems, waterless urinals, and recycling programs at many of their stadiums in an effort to do their part to save the environment.
