Wind Turbines Installed and Operating in Antarctica

This week, 3 wind turbines have finally begun operating in Antarctica.
Antarctica is one of the harshest environments in the world yet many scientists risk their lives to study in these conditions to determine how we are effecting the environment.
Typically, these research stations are entirely powered by imported diesel fuels that run generator. This is an extremely expensive and environmentally unfriendly way to power the research outposts.
This week, however, the researchers have turned on 3 wind turbines that will provide enough electricity to replace 122,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
The hope is, if these turbines can operate successfully in Antarctica then it will continue to pay the way forward for a Green Planet.
